Ryan Spooner has been recalled by the Boston Bruins on an emergency basis. With the Bruins forward depth being tested due to injury, Spooner is expected to make the trip to Montreal for Wednesday's game.
Spooner, the Bruins second round pick in 2010, is in his first professional season and if he plays will be making his NHL debut. This season with the Providence Bruins, Spooner has nine goals and 30 points in 35 games.
The Bruins also have Jamie Tardif, who made his NHL debut against Toronto, up on an emergency basis
The recall of Spooner comes days after Brad Marchand took a hard fall into the boards during the Bruins win over Toronto. Marchand missed the entire third period and whether he can play Wednesday is still unknown. It is also unknown whether Daniel Paille will play Wednesday after missing the game at Toronto. Claude Julien hasn't ruled either of them out just yet.
Shawn Thornton is still out with a concussion sustained against Buffalo.Tags: Boston, Boston Bruins, Brad Marchand, Claude Julien, Daniel Paille, Hockey, Jamie Tardif, NHL, Providence Bruins, Ryan Spooner, Shawn Thornton
